#LookingLucky 10 I Local Love (Farewell, Indiana!)

I purposely saved the Looking Lucky “local love” trend for last. Today we embark for California, so I thought it only fitting to dedicate my last look to my hometown.

This outfit was actually my moving outfit on Monday, so I needed something comfy and loose – Toms and tshirt it was! I ordered this Indiana necklace a few weeks ago and paired it with Hoosier native James Dean on my tshirt. I also threw my old Girl Scout pin on my jacket, which I’m kinda digging.

So we’re off – first stop Kansas City, MO! I plan on filming some vlogs during our road trip, so stay tuned! Anything we should see on the way there?? Please comment with suggestions!

#LookingLucky 09 I Fringe

Fringe for Looking Lucky was a tricky one…luckily I’ve had this vintage dress in my closet for years.

I originally bought this dress at the late, great Rag-O-Rama (the Indy location closed) a few years ago for an Edie Sedgwick costume. I never ended up using the dress for the costume, but I have worn it out a few times. I love that it’s simple yet just a little funky with the fringe. Before deciding on the dress, I tried really hard to find something new and fringey, but it just didn’t happen. I tried looking for some sort of drapey fringed cardigan or a fringed kimono, but I couldn’t find something I loved. Hence, this old thing.

#LookingLucky 08 I Tribal

Entering the home stretch of the Looking Lucky challenge with trend #8: tribal.

I’ve actually been really into the tribal trend lately, and I had quite a few options for this outfit; however, in packing up my stuff, I found this shirt that totally forgot I had. It’s a vintage shirt that I found at a consignment shop years ago in Broad Ripple. Sadly, the store no longer exists. When I discovered this in a box of old clothes, I knew that it had to be my Looking Lucky tribal piece. No doubt. I love the unique pattern and the super retro vibe it gives (what with actually being from the ’60s or ’70s and and all…), thus I had to pair it with flared jeans and a long necklace. The one thing you can’t see though is the Marcia Brady-like collar. I tucked that inside my cardigan. See a little peek below. And then don’t say I never gave you anything.

I really couldn’t find a shirt similar to mine, but I really like this sleeveless tribal top!

Told you so…

#LookingLucky 07 I Geometric

For my seventh Looking Lucky outfit, I’m gettin’ my geometry on…

I wasn’t 100% sure what to wear for the geometric trend. Upon first thought, the only thing I knew I’d definitely throw on was this inverted triangle necklace. A few days later, I scored this scarf at Target for less than $8, due to a BOGO sale they were having. I then decided that for my outfit, I’d just let my accessories do the talking, which was solidified when I remembered I had this purse. How I forgot I had it, I have no idea, but once I threw it on, I was satisfied. The brown details on the purse clash a little with my grey shirt, but I think the black shapes on the purse help tie it together, along with the teal and the mint. I may have been a terrible geometry student, but I did okay with the color wheel in elementary school art. I think.

#LookingLucky 06 I Cropped

I tried to make a crop top work by showing a tiny sliver of skin with a high waisted skirt. Honestly, I liked it, but for the night I had planned, it made me a little uncomfortable; therefore, my old favorite of cropped shirt/flowy shirt came into play.

Obviously, this outfit could also fall under the tribal trend for Looking Lucky, but I have a few more tribal pieces in my closet, so one of those will do.

So, let’s talk about these shoes. I found these beautiful Tahari heels at a local consignment shop, practically brand new, for only $16. Great story, right? Unfortunately, shoes have to be walked in, and I chose the worst night to debut them. For a friend’s birthday last weekend, we rented a party bus, and when I say bus, I mean school bus, the Pink Flamingo to be exact. For some reason, when planning my outfit, I did not take into account the fact that the bus would be in motion. Moral of the story: standing on a moving bus in heels can be a bit difficult. Throw in some drinks and muddy ground, and your beautiful new shoes will be almost ruined in the morning. I cleaned them as best as I could, but I’m going to to have to take them to a professional and see if anything can be done. Luckily, thanks to my crappy photography and editing, you can barely tell they’re stained. I think that’s what they really meant when they named this challenge “Looking Lucky.”

Exciting Announcement: QB is Moving!

20140416-150057.jpgLet’s Be Friends:  Instagram  I  Twitter  I  Pinterest  I  Facebook  I  Bloglovin  I  YouTube

Crazy, right?? Brett’s been searching for a new job for awhile now, and we decided to just take a leap and look out of state. He applied to San Francisco on a whim and got it! The crazier part? We’re leaving in TWO weeks from today! So basically we have two weeks to pack up our lives, see all of our friends and family, and leave to head across the country. I’m equal parts excited and equal parts about to have a panic attack.

So starting April 30, we will be living in hotels for probably a month, as we have no place to live yet. Luckily, Brett works in the hospitality industry, so we will be able to live in his hotel for up to 30 days while we search for a home. So two people and a dog living in a tiny hotel room for a month. Weee!

Now onto the important part: how will this affect QB? It won’t! In fact, I hope this move will be a good thing for my blog. I think it’ll be refreshing for QB to have a change of scenery, and I’m hoping for more writing opportunities and/or just opportunities in general out west. In addition, I plan to take you all with us as we trek across the country, including a travel diary of sorts as well as daily vlogs on the road. In fact, I have created another blog for just that! Originally, I thought about just created a blog for friends and family to keep up with us, but I’m going to share on here as well. You can find our adventures over at www.bbandmac.wordpress, which, as of right now, has absolutely nothing on it, but check back soon!. I’ll be posting our journey on here as well.

So that’s all my news for now! I can’t wait for the next chapter of QB and life in general!

Do any of you live in San Francisco? California? Any Cali tips? Moving tips? Life tips? I’d love to hear any and all of the things because I haven’t been to San Francisco since I was a kid!

#LookingLucky 05 I Metallic

I was a little worried about pulling off metallic for the Looking Lucky challenge, as I literally own zero metallic things. Until now. Read on to hear a tale of a girl and a bag.

How cute is this Fossil bag? I went to Macy’s in search of something subtly metallic because metalllics really aren’t my thing. But then I found this bag with the marked down purses and immediately fell in love. I guess rose gold metallic is my thing. I paid more than I typically can bring myself to pay for a bag, but like I said, it was already marked down plus an additional 20% sale, and I had a Macy’s giftcard, so the end price was reasonable.

Shoe In

How do you dress for success? Do you dress for the job you want or the job you have? Are your shoes made for walking or climbing the ladder of success? Well, you know upward mobility is always on the mind of an avid blogger. This week we take the plunge into Spring and Summer trends, but not in the way of dressing down but more buttoning up. Does that mean we have work on the mind? Maybe. You’ll just have to see for yourself.

#LookingLucky 04 I Lace

When I first read the trends for the challenge, I wasn’t sure what I would wear for lace because I didn’t think I had anything lacy in my closet; however, as soon I took a peek, it was hard to forget the glaring yellow lace skirt in there! I totally forgot about this pretty thing because I don’t think I’ve worn it since my bridal shower over a year and a half ago. I knew I had kept it for a reason.

#LookingLucky 03 I Neon

As a fan of bright colors, I was more than happy to slip into a little neon for my third Looking Lucky outfit!

I wore this little ensemble last Friday for a trip downtown to have lunch with Brett. Upon stepping outside, I realized I should have checked the weather because it was a little bit colder and A LOT bit windier than I thought. Walking around downtown was actual pretty miserable, so I nixed the little photo shoot I had planned to do and re-shot this outfit on Sunday when the weather was quite lovely. Sometimes when this happens, I’ll just skip an outfit, but I wasn’t about to skip this one. Green and teal is one of my favorite color combinations. Don’t believe me? Check out my living room:

Boom. I’m so good at this challenge, even my walls are neon.
